QPR made one final swoop in the January transfer window on Thursday, landing Tottenham midfielder Andros Townsend on loan for the remainder of the season.

Rangers boss Harry Redknapp previously picked up Christopher Samba and Jermaine Jenas on deadline day, but the former Tottenham boss raided his former club by picking up the England U-21 midfielder on a vital loan deal.

The 21-year-old Townsend has found first-team football hard to come by under new boss Andre Villas-Boas, making just 10 appearances all season.

"Andros is a kid with a fantastic future," said Redknapp. "I like Andros an awful lot. He's a winger, he's strong, he's quick, he's brave and he scores goals.

"He's unlucky that he's got Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon keeping him out of the team. I think eventually he'll become a big player."
