No. 24 Notre Dame is hoping getting away from South Bend will help turn its fortunes around.

Coach Mike Brey says the Fighting Irish (15-4, 3-3 Big East) need to play better offensively when they face last-place South Florida (10-8, 1-5) Saturday. The Irish average 73.1 points a game, but averaged 59 points in losing three of their past four.

They also will be playing without sixth-year forward Scott Martin, who is out indefinitely with a bad knee. Brey says someone needs to step up and replace Martin as the team's vocal leader. He's counting on the other four starters to fill the void.

Point guard Eric Atkins said believes the Irish need to be better defensively, saying they have do a better job of getting rebounds and loose balls.
