NBA veteran Delonte West has agreed to join the Texas Legends of the Developmental League, the team announced Friday.
West had been out of basketball since being waived by the Dallas Mavericks just prior to the season opener, following two separate suspensions by the club for conduct detrimental to the team. The eight-year pro averaged 9.6 points, 3.2 assists and 2.3 rebounds over 44 games (33 starts) with Dallas in 2011-12.
The Legends are the Mavericks' main D-League affiliate.
A first-round pick of the Boston Celtics in 2004, West has averaged 9.7 points, 3.6 assists and 2.9 rebounds over 432 career games with the Celtics, Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland and Dallas. His best season came with Boston in 2005-06, when the 29-year-old guard averaged 11.8 points, 4.6 assists and 4.1 rebounds while making 71 starts.
