Swansea City striker Michu will remain in Wales for the foreseeable future after signing a new four-year contract with the club on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old has taken the Premier League by storm after arriving at Swansea on a three-year deal over the summer from La Liga side Rayo Vallecano.

The Spaniard has netted 13 top-flight goals this season, and trails only Liverpool's Luis Suarez and Manchester United's Robin Van Persie for the league lead.

His production this campaign has seen him linked with a potential big-money move away from the Swans, but the new deal will keep him at the Liberty Stadium until 2016.

"It was an easy decision for me," Michu told the club's official website. "I am living a dream here at Swansea."

"I'm really happy here in the city with the people, the club and the fans," he continued. "Everyone has been so nice to me since I arrived. I think the club are happy with me because they have given me a new contract. I am certainly happy with the club."
