New York, NY – Red Bull New York made just one selection in last week's MLS SuperDraft, but the club appears to have beefed up its roster with a total of six picks in Tuesday's Supplemental Draft, including the top overall pick, Ryan Clark from Monmouth University.
Clark, 22, is a naturally left-footed player who traditionally operates in the midfield but may also compete for the left-back position. He became the second midfielder taken by the Red Bulls in the draft process this year after the club selected Georgetown University's Ian Christianson with the 22nd overall pick in the SuperDraft.
In the Supplemental Draft, the Red Bulls also selected Michael Bustamante from Boston University (13th overall), Ben Fisk from the University of Washington (32nd overall), Marc Citron from Providence College (34th overall), Stephane Diop from the University of Connecticut (51st overall) and Andrew Ribeiro from Creighton University (70th overall).
Chivas USA continued its trend of taking players of Hispanic heritage by selecting Jose Diaz of UC Riverside with the second overall pick.
New Portland Timbers boss Caleb Porter showed a bit of bias with the club's first pick in the Supplemental Draft. The former University of Akron coach selected David Meves of the Zips with the third overall pick.
The New England Revolution, which took Louisville standout Andrew Farrell with the top pick in the SuperDraft, added to its midfield with its first selection in the Supplemental Draft, taking the University of Connecticut's Jossimar Sanchez fourth overall.
Seattle Sounders FC rounded out the top five of Tuesday's draft, taking Will Bates from the University of Virginia.
