The Columbus Crew announced Tuesday that defender Glauber Leandro Honorato Berti is set to join the club as a Discovery Signing.

Glauber, 29, brings a wealth of experience to MLS. The Brazilian defender joins the Crew from Rapid Bucharest of the Romanian First Division, where he made 46 appearances and scored one goal across all competitions. He has enjoyed stints across Europe and South America with English giants Manchester City, German club Nurnberg and Brazilian sides Palmeiras and Atletico Mineiro.

"Glauber is a world-class international defender who we feel will be a great compliment to Chad Marshall, anchoring our central defense," said Crew President and General Manager Mark McCullers. "This was a key priority to improve our team in the offseason and we are excited for him to join the club."

Glauber will be added to the club's roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Visa (ITC) and P-1 Visa. Per league and club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
