Madrid, Spain - (Sports Network) - Atletico Madrid closed to within eight points of league leaders Barcelona on Sunday, claiming a 2-0 win over Levante at the Vicente Calderon.

The home side struck first in the 32nd minute when Manquillo played a square ball in the box for Adrian to tap home.

A bit of misfortune hit Atletico eight minutes after the break when Radamel Falcao pulled up lame while charging down the left wing and needed to be substituted because of injury.

But Atletico shook off the injury to its star forward and added a second goal on the hour mark courtesy of beautiful, curling right-footed strike into the top corner by Koke for the comfortable 2-0 margin.

Atletico has not allowed a goal at home over the past 947 minutes of action and pushed its unbeaten streak in league play to four straight games, while Levante retains its spot in La Liga on 30 points.

Real Madrid 5, Valencia 0

Valencia, Spain - Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria both scored a first- half brace as Real Madrid hammered Valencia, 5-0, on Sunday at the Mestalla.

Gonzalo Higuain started the scoring for the visitors just nine minutes into the contest as he ran onto a through pass from Di Maria and powered it into the bottom left corner.

Di Maria made it two for Madrid in the 34th minute with a strike into the lower left corner off a nice feed from Ronaldo, who then added a third for the traveling side two minutes later when he collected a pass from Fabio Coentrao and slotted it just inside the near post.

Ronaldo struck again four minutes before the break after corralling a pass from Mesut Ozil and cracking it first-time into the net. Di Maria got his second of the game on the stroke of halftime, easing one past Valencia keeper Diego Alves.

Valencia upped the pressure in the second half, but was unable to find a goal as Los Che remain in seventh place with 30 points from 20 matches.

Osasuna 2, Deportivo 1

Navarra, Spain - Osasuna picked itself up off the bottom of the La Liga table on Sunday, posting a 2-1 win over relegation-battling Deportivo at Estadio El Sadar.

Kike Sola opened the scoring for the hosts in the 26th minute when he took down a cross in the box from Emiliano Armenteros and hammered it into the lower right corner of the net.

Osasuna doubled its lead after the break through Juan Francisco Martinez, who got on the end of a free kick in the 61st minute and pounded it into the top of the net for the comfortable 2-0 margin.

Javier Camunas pulled one back for Deportivo in the second minute of stoppage time, but the home side held on for the crucial three points. Deportivo now sits bottom of the pack with just 16 points.

Valladolid 2, Real Zaragoza 0

Valladolid, Spain - Valladolid moved into 10th place on Sunday, securing a comfortable 2-0 home win over Real Zaragoza at the Estadio Nuevo Jose Zorrilla.

Javi Guerra found the back of the net for the hosts just 12 minutes into the contest when he got on the end of a corner from Oscar Gonzalez and slotted it home from close range.

Gonzalez made it two for the hosts in the 74th minute with a strike into the top left corner of the net and Valladolid held on for the result. Zaragoza remains in 13th place on 22 points.
