Ajax went level with PSV Eindhoven for second place in the Eredivisie by cruising to a 3-0 defeat of Feyenoord at the Amsterdam ArenA on Sunday.

Viktor Fischer grabbed a first-half brace for the home side, scoring in the seventh and 40th minutes to put Ajax in a comfortable position.

The lead was extended in the 62nd minute when Siem De Jong notched his eighth league goal of the campaign, but Feyenoord was given a glimmer of hope when Ricardo Van Rhijn was sent off two minutes later for denying the visitors a clear scoring opportunity. Feyenoord failed to make anything of the opportunity as Lex Immers missing the ensuing penalty to cap a futile night in front of goal.

Ajax goes level with PSV, which suffered a 3-1 home defeat to Zwolle on Friday, on 40 points apiece.

Feyenoord remains fourth in the Dutch top flight on 37 points.

Elsewhere in the Eredivisie on Sunday, Roda climbed out of the relegation zone with a 2-0 defeat of NEC, Kevin Jansen and Hans Mulder exchanged goals on either side of halftime in Den Haag's 1-1 draw at Willem II, and Utrecht received two second-half goals in a 2-0 defeat of Groningen at Euroborg.
