Fiorentina confirmed Friday the club has signed striker Marcelo Larrondo on loan from Siena with an option to buy at the conclusion of the season.

The 24-year-old, who has been limited to just three appearances this season, joined Siena in 2009 and helped the Bianconeri earn promotion from Serie B during the 2010-11 campaign.

Larrondo figures to bolster Fiorentina's attack as the club looks to gain ground on Serie A leaders Juventus.

Fiorentina sits in fifth place on 35 points from 20 matches, 10 points behind Juventus, but just seven points off the pace of third-place Lazio for a Champions League qualifying position.
