The Chicago Fire announced late Wednesday that the club has acquired midfielder Jeff Larentowicz and the 30th overall pick in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft from the Colorado Rapids in exchange for the 11th overall pick, allocation money and a 2013 international roster slot.

"Jeff is a hard-nosed player who has consistently been one of the best midfielders in MLS," said Fire President of Soccer Operations Javier Leon. "His MLS Cup and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup championship pedigree will be a welcome addition to our squad."

Larentowicz had joined Colorado from the New England Revolution in a 2010 trade that sent Cory Gibbs the opposite way. The 29-year-old started all but one of the 96 regular season matches in which he appeared for the Rapids, scoring 14 goals and adding 2 assists across three seasons.

Per league and club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
