London, England – Queens Park Rangers confirmed on Wednesday the club has completed a deal for French striker Loic Remy.
Remy, who signed a new 4 1/2 year contract, makes the move to London from French side Marseille, where he scored 27 goals in 68 appearances. The France international has also been capped 17 times by his country, scoring four goals.
Upon receipt of official clearances, he will be eligible for selection by manager Harry Redknapp when QPR travels to Upton Park to take on West Ham on Saturday.
"I spoke to him (Redknapp) and (chairman) Tony Fernandes at length and they made it clear they wanted me here," Remy told the club's official website. "They gave me the right motivation to join QPR."
"I want to develop my game here. The season objective is to stay up, but beyond that we have greater objectives. After seven years in France, this is the right time for me to pursue a new challenge in the Premier League -- the best league in the world."
Remy will be counted on as an offensive spark as Rangers attempt to stave off relegation. The London club currently sits on the bottom of the table with 14 points from 22 matches, five points from safety.
