The Philadelphia 76ers have just two wins in their last nine games and have scored 100-plus points in both.
The Sixers have scored 100 or more points just 11 times this season, going 8-3 in those games, and will resume their lengthy stay at home Tuesday versus the New Orleans Hornets at Wells Fargo Center.
Philadelphia, which is 3-16 when failing to reach 90 points this season, is playing four straight and 12 of 13 games in the City of Brotherly Love. It opened the residency with a 107-100 victory over the Houston Rockets on Saturday as Jrue Holiday totaled 30 points and nine assists to lead the way.
Thaddeus Young posted 18 points and 12 rebounds, Jason Richardson added 16 points and Evan Turner ended with 12 points, seven boards and six assists for the 76ers, who halted a five-game losing streak and improved to 10-8 as the host. They will also entertain Toronto and San Antonio on the homestand.
"That was a terrific win for us tonight," Sixers coach Doug Collins said. "Tonight was as good of leadership by our captains (Holiday, Young and Richardson) as I've had in the three years I've been here."
Houston was on top, 20-9, with under five minutes left in the first quarter before the Sixers went on an 18-2 run and never trailed again. Philadelphia is 15-0 when leading at the start of the fourth quarter this season.
Holiday is averaging 20.0 points, 8.6 assists and 4.6 rebounds in his last 11 games and reached the 30-point mark for only the second time this season. The Sixers play Tuesday at Milwaukee for their only road game until Feb. 13, then will have eight in a row at home.
New Orleans hopes to get back in the winning groove and will resume its three- game road trip Tuesday. The Hornets had their season-high four-game winning streak stopped with Sunday's 100-87 loss to the New York Knicks, which was highlighted by 22 points from Eric Gordon.
"They got into a flow. Carmelo (Anthony) got into a big flow in the second quarter and when he is flowing, their whole team is flowing," Gordon said. "They had a big quarter and they kept having big strides after that. We didn't play as well."
Rookie Anthony Davis had 13 points for New Orleans, which is just 5-13 away from the Big Easy. New Orleans turned the ball over 16 times, leading to 24 New York points.
The Hornets will conclude their road swing Wednesday at Boston.
New Orleans will close out its season series with Philadelphia and lost the first meeting, 77-62, at home back on Nov. 7. Holiday posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 assists, while Al-Farouq Aminu scored a team-high 10 points and pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds. Davis did not play in that one for the Hornets, who have lost five of the last six in this series.
The Hornets have lost 10 of their last 15 visits to south Philly.
