Los Angeles Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez is returning to the U.S. national team after a two-year absence, while Landon Donovan was left off the training camp roster.

Gonzalez was among 25 mostly U.S.-based players selected Sunday by coach Jurgen Klinsmann for a training camp before an exhibition game against Canada at Houston on Jan. 29. The Americans then will call in regulars for the opening game of the final round of World Cup qualifying, at Honduras on Feb. 6.

Eight players looking for their national team debuts are on the roster: goalkeeper Tally Hall; defenders Steven Beitashour, Tony Beltran, Matt Besler, Connor Lade, Alfredo Morales and Justin Morrow; and forward Will Bruin.

Donovan was skipped over while he decides whether he wants to keep playing.
