Arsenal has announced that its Boxing Day match against West Ham at the Emirates Stadium has been postponed and will instead be played in January.

The decision was made after it was confirmed that workers of the London Underground will be staging a strike that day, causing potential chaos for traveling fans.

Instead, the contest will be played on either Jan. 23 or Jan. 26 depending on the two clubs' results in the FA Cup.

"This decision has been made now, due to the preparation period needed to safely operate Emirates Stadium by all the relevant agencies," read a statement on Arsenal's official website.

"The club worked closely with all the relevant agencies, including the Metropolitan Police, Transport for London, London Underground, The Premier League, West Ham United and Islington Council, in order to reach this decision."
