Davis Love III and his son Dru fired a 12-under 60 on Saturday to grab a 1-stroke lead after the first round of the Father/Son Challenge.

The Loves were the runner-up in 2008, the last time this event was contested.

The event is a two-day competition with the teams playing a two-man scramble.

Fred Funk and his son Taylor were late additions to the field, and they carded an 11-under 61 to join Mark and Shaun O'Meara in second place at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club at Grand Lakes Resort.

Jack and Gary Nicklaus, the 1999 champs, posted a 10-under 62 and were joined in fourth place by 2003 winners Hale and Steve Irwin as well as Vijay and Qass Singh, and Bernhard Langer and his daughter Christina.

Larry and Josh Nelson, the 2004 and 2008 champions, are in eighth place at minus-9. They stand alongside David Duval and his stepson Nick Karavites, Lee and Connor Janzen, and Nick and Matthew Faldo.

Raymond and Robert Floyd are alone in 12th at 8-under 64, while Fuzzy Zoeller and his daughter Gretchen are one shot back at minus-7.

Lanny and Tucker Wadkins carded a 6-under 66 and were joined in 14th place by Steve and Sam Elkington, and Sandy and James Lyle.

Lee and Daniel Trevino were the last team in red figures at minus-3. Arnold Palmer and his grandson Will Wears are in last place at 6-over 78.
