The University of South Dakota announced its 2013 football schedule, including the start of a home-and-home series with UC Davis, on Monday.

South Dakota will host the Aggies on Aug. 31 to open its season. UC Davis will then play host to the Coyotes on Sept. 12, 2015.

"We are excited to open the 2013 season at home against UC Davis," South Dakota coach Joe Glenn said. "Each game in this series has been a good one and we expect this contest to be no different."

The teams last met in 2011, with USD coming away with a 27-24 victory. The schools also met from 2009-10 as members of the Great West Conference, with the Aggies winning both contests. All three games during that span were decided by four points or less.

Overall, the series is tied at 2-2, with the first meeting taking place in the 1986 Division II NCAA playoffs. The Coyotes won the inaugural matchup, 26-23.

South Dakota, a member of the Missouri Valley Conference, had a 1-10 record this season. UC Davis, playing in the program's first year as a member of the Big Sky Conference, finished with a 4-7 record.

USD also announced future opponents and highlights of its 2013 schedule.

After the season opener versus UC Davis on Aug. 31, the Coyotes head to FBS foe Kansas on Sept. 7.

USD officials are seeking to fill an opening on either Sept. 14 or 21 before the Coyotes open Missouri Valley play on the road against Western Illinois on Sept. 28.

In the months of October and November, USD only has three remaining away games, at Northern Iowa on Oct. 19, Illinois State on Oct. 26 and North Dakota State on Nov. 23 to end the regular season.

Other home contests include Missouri State (Oct. 5), Indiana State (Oct. 12), Youngstown State (Nov. 2) and a final non-conference game versus Montana on Nov. 9.
