The Arizona Diamondbacks bolstered their bench on Wednesday, inking six-time Gold Glove winner Eric Chavez to a one- year contract. Although financial details were not released, the deal is believed to be for $3 million.

Chavez played the last two seasons with the New York Yankees and proved to be a valuable addition when healthy, adding depth to the corner infield positions. He appeared in 113 games for the Yankees last season and hit .281 with 16 home runs and 37 RBI.

The 34-year-old former first-round pick spent his first 13 big league seasons with Oakland and is a career .267 hitter with 248 homers and 850 runs batted in.
