Sebastien Bassong and Anthony Pilkington scored in the first half and Norwich City held off Sunderland, 2-1, to win for the fourth time during an eight-game unbeaten run in the English Premiership.

Bassong scored inside eight minutes to open the scoring and Pilkington added a second eight minutes before halftime, giving Norwich the cushion it needed to for its fourth win this season.

Norwich started the season winless in seven straight matches, extending a run without a win to 11 games dating to last season. But since a 1-0 win against Arsenal in late October, Norwich has turned its campaign around.

The Canaries have also defeated Manchester United during their run, which has the club up to 12th place in the standings and within two points of a place in the top half. Norwich is unbeaten in nine straight in all competitions.

Craig Gardner scored late in the first half for Sunderland, which has just one win in its last nine league matches. Sunderland is just one point above the relegation zone in 17th place.
