Daniel Mullings had 21 points and 11 rebounds as New Mexico State handed Southern Mississippi its first defeat of the season, 68-60, on Saturday night.

Sim Bhullar added 17 points for the Aggies (4-4), who shot 56 percent from the field. Mullings hit 6 of 9 shots and was 9 for 10 at the free-throw line, while Bhullar hit on 7 of 8 from the field and 3 of 6 from the line.

Southern Miss (6-1), which had been off to an unbeaten start in coach Donnie Tyndall's first year with the team, got 12 points apiece from Jonathan Mills and Michael Craig, and 11 from Neil Watson.

The Aggies used a 19-6 first-half run capped by Mullings' dunk with 3:26 remaining to go on top 36-20. The Golden Eagles never got closer than eight points in the second half.
