LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Ben Dillard scored 17 points off the bench and James White added 14 to lead UALR to an 83-58 victory against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday night.
Will Neighbour had 13 points and six rebounds for the Trojans (6-3, 2-0 Sun Belt).
Jayon James scored 15 points and Marcelis Hansberry 14 for the Warhawks (0-4, 0-2), who trailed 32-27 at the break but shot just 11 of 29 (37.9 percent) in the second half.
UALR came out fast in the second half to open up a 41-28 advantage. Louisiana-Monroe responded with back-to-back 3-pointers from James and Trent Mackey to cut the deficit to seven, but that was as close as it would get.
The Trojans scored eight straight points, including four from Dillard, to build a 53-38 advantage with 11:43 remaining.
Louisiana-Monroe committed 20 turnovers.
