PSG aims to get back to winning ways against Troyes

Paris, France – Despite the sizable investment made by the ownership group at the helm, PSG has struggled to compete as expected in Ligue 1 play thus far.

The additions of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ezequiel Lavezzi, amongst others, have yielded massive expectations for manager Carlo Ancelotti.

While PSG was able to advance beyond the Champions League group stage, it has not translated to success in league play. Without a win in its last three Ligue 1 matches, PSG has slipped to third place with just 23 points.

PSG will have a golden opportunity to place additional pressure on first-place Lyon and second-place Bordeaux on Saturday when it hosts lowly Troyes at the Parc des Princes.

Troyes has found life in Ligue 1 to be quite difficult - the promoted side has won just one league match, sitting second from bottom on eight points.

It will not get any easier facing PSG though. Ancelotti's men are sure to be motivated by the prospect of going top of the table for at least a day. Maximum points on Saturday would lift PSG to 26 points on the season, one point ahead of Lyon and two points clear of Bordeaux ahead of their Sunday fixtures.

Should PSG claim its seventh win of the season, Lyon can restore its position at the top of the table by defeating Toulouse at the Stade Municipal de Toulouse, and Bordeaux can return to second place with a victory over reigning champion Montpellier, which has managed just 14 points this season.

In Sunday's third and final fixture, Lille hopes to claim a win at the Stade Velodrome that would see the club move level with Marseille on 23 points apiece.

On Saturday, Rennes looks to secure a fourth successive victory when it welcomes Evian to the Stade de la Route de Lorient, Nancy hopes to climb out of the cellar when it hosts Ajaccio at the Stade Marcel Picot, Sochaux attempts to extend its unbeaten run in league play to four games when it welcomes Nice to the Stade Auguste Bonal, Reims tries to avoid a fourth straight defeat when it hosts Brest at the Stade Auguste Delaune II, and Bastia hopes to snap a three-game losing skid when it faces Lorient at the Stade Armand-Cesari.

In Friday's lone Ligue 1 contest, St. Etienne earned a 1-0 win over Valenciennes.
