Jazmin Pitts netted a career-high 20 points off the bench as the Virginia women upended No. 17 Vanderbilt 73-66 Friday in the first game of the San Juan Shootout.

Sarah Imovbioh pitched in 15 points and China Crosby had 13 for the Cavaliers (4-0).

Pitts hit 9 of 14 shots in her 26 minutes, 8 seconds of action. Her offensive output helped Virginia outscore Vanderbilt 28-14 off the bench.

Virginia leaped to a 37-26 halftime lead on 15-of-22 shooting (68.2 percent) in the first half. Vanderbilt made strides to close the gap in the second half, but was hindered by a 36.4 shooting percentage (24 of 66) for the game.

The Commodores (3-2) hit 10 of 33 3-point tries. Christina Foggie led the charge, hitting a career-best eight 3-pointers on 17 attempts with a season-high 26 points.

The loss was Vanderbilt's second straight after losing to then-unranked Dayton on Nov. 18.
