Taran Brown scored 17 points and had eight rebounds, leading UC Santa Barbara to a 57-39 victory over San Diego on Wednesday night.

UC Santa Barbara (2-2) shot 46 percent from the field and forced the Toreros to turn the ball over 16 times, scoring 18 points off those turnovers.

San Diego (3-3) never led in the game, but was only down 34-28 at half time. UC Santa Barbara stepped up its defense in the second half, allowing the Toreros to score only 11 points on 3-of-27 shooting and dominating with inside play, scoring 34 points in the paint compared to San Diego's 14.

The Toreros were a dismal 3 of 19 from behind the 3-point line.

Alan Williams chipped in with 12 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots for the Gauchos which had 17 assists compared to San Diego's five.
