Billy Baron scored 18 points to lead all five starters in double figures as Canisius beat Buffalo 71-64 Tuesday night in nonconference action.

Jordan Heath scored 14 points and Harold Washington chipped in with 12 for Canisius (3-0).

Chris Manhertz and Isaac Sosa were the other two starters to score in double figures with 11 points and 10 points, respectively.

Buffalo (1-5) led early 22-21 after Auraum Nuiriankh's layup, but Baron answered, scoring the next seven points for the Golden Griffins to take a 28-22 lead. Canisius led at the half 40-38.

The Bulls were unable to keep up in the second half.

Buffalo turned the ball over 24 times, leading to 27 points for Canisius, while the Golden Griffins protected the ball with just seven turnovers.

Canisius is off to its first 3-0 start since the 2000-2001 season.

Javon McCrea led the Bulls with 22 points.
