Fred bagged a brace in Fluminense's 3-2 victory over Palmeiras on Sunday, leading the club to its fourth Brazilian league title.

The 29-year-old finished atop the Brasileiro scoring chart with 18 goals on the season, but his last two helped Fluminense finish the season strong.

He opened the scoring just before halftime before an own goal from Mauricio Ramos doubled Fluminense's lead.

Palmeiras stormed back with Hernan Barcos and Patrick Vieira scoring in the span of three minutes, but Fred notched the game-winner three minutes from time to help Fluminense capture its second title in three years.

Fluminense finishes the Brasileiro season with 76 points while Palmeiras ends with 33 points.

Elsewhere in Brazil's top flight on Sunday, Marcelo Moreno scored six minutes from time to help Gremio ensure a second-place finish with a 2-1 defeat of Sao Paulo.

Atletico Mineiro dropped to third place, settling for a 1-1 draw at Vasco da Gama to close out the season.

Rounding out the weekend action, Ponte Preta claimed a 1-0 defeat of Internacional, Cruizeiro cruised to a 3-1 defeat of Bahia, Figueirense played to a 1-1 draw with Sport Recife, and Renato converted a late penalty to lift Flamengo to a 1-0 win over Nautico.
