The University of Montana's football program will play six home games in 2013 as part of a 12-game schedule announced Wednesday.

The Grizzlies are taking advantage of the NCAA allowing FCS teams to play 12 games instead of the usual 11.

The Big Sky Conference power, which has struggled to a 5-5 record with one remaining game this year, will open the 2013 campaign at home in a return game against Southern Conference power Appalachian State. Montana lost at Appalachian State, 35-27, in its second game this season.

The Grizzlies' non-conference games will be at North Dakota on Sept. 14 (UND is a Big Sky member, but the game will not count in the conference standings), against Division II Panhandle State on Sept. 21 and at South Dakota on Nov. 9.

Within the Big Sky, Montana will host Portland State (Oct. 5) on Homecoming, Cal Poly (Oct. 19), Eastern Washington (Oct. 26) and Weber State (Nov. 16).

The Grizzlies' road conference games are at Northern Arizona (Sept. 28), UC Davis (Oct. 12), Sacramento State (Nov. 2) and arch-rival Montana State (Nov. 23) in their 113th meeting.
