Titans rule Lt Roos out vs Colts as he recovers from appendectomy

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Left tackle Michael Roos' 119-game consecutive starts streak will come to an end Sunday as the Titans have ruled him out for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Roos sat out for the third straight day of practice Friday after having his appendix removed on Monday. His streak had been second only to Detroit's Jeff Backus among active offensive tackles.

"We're not going to play him. We're not going to take any risks or chances with that," Titans coach Mike Munchak said. "He's feeling pretty good, but he probably needs a good week to rest and he'll be fine next week."

Mike Otto, playing in his first game of the season after being sidelined with a knee problem, says he is ready to make his first start since last season.

"It's an opportunity to go out and play against a good team," Otto said. "I'm looking forward to doing my part to help us do what we need to do to win."

In addition to Roos, four other Titans already have been declared out for Sunday with injuries — quarterback Jake Locker (left shoulder), cornerback Tommie Campbell (left ankle), running back Javon Ringer (left knee) and linebacker Patrick Bailey (ribs).

The Titans later placed Ringer on injured reserve Friday afternoon and activated safety Tracy Wilson to the roster. Ringer hurt his knee Oct. 7 in a loss at Minnesota, and the Titans had hoped they could keep him on the roster until he healed up. But they need Wilson for special teams' depth, and he has been on the practice squad since the final roster cuts.

Linebacker Colin McCarthy practiced on Friday after getting Thursday off to rest his troublesome ankle. He will be questionable, but Munchak indicated that he should be able to play Sunday.

Linebacker Will Witherspoon practiced Friday and was listed as questionable with a hamstring injury.

Other Titans players listed as probable for Sunday and practiced all week. Those include running back Chris Johnson (ankle), receiver Kenny Britt (knee), tight end Craig Stevens (concussion) and safety Jordan Babineaux (wrist).
