Irving, TX – Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray will miss at least one week after spraining his left foot in Sunday's game at Baltimore, team owner Jerry Jones stated during a radio interview on Tuesday.
According to the Dallas Morning News, an MRI taken on Murray's foot revealed some ligament damage but no fractures. The second-year pro suffered the injury late in the second quarter of Sunday's 31-29 loss to the Ravens and had just one rushing attempt after halftime as a result.
"I think we were encouraged that his sprain was not any more serious than it is," said Jones on KRLD radio. "He's a tough guy. I regret that we're not going to have him against Carolina, which looks obvious. I'm encouraged that we're going to have him as we move along."
Felix Jones recorded 92 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries after replacing Murray as the lead back and will start the Cowboys' Week 7 matchup at Carolina. Murray had 93 yards on 14 attempts against Baltimore before exiting.
In other team injury news, MRI taken on cornerbacks Morris Claiborne and Mike Jenkins did not show any structural damage. Claiborne briefly exited Sunday's contest with a twisted left knee, while Jenkins aggravated an existing shoulder ailment in the loss.
Defensive end Sean Lissemore was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain and is not expected to play against the Panthers.
