Chelsea and England defender Ashley Cole accepted a charge of misconduct Thursday for a Twitter post that insulted the English Football Association.

The 31-year-old Cole posted the comments online to defend teammate John Terry against a charge of racial abuse. Although the remarks, which insulted the FA, were later removed, Cole was still punished.

Cole admitted to the charge that his actions were "improper and/or brought the game into disrepute." He faces a fine, but will not be suspended. He could win his 100th cap for England Tuesday against Poland.

England plays San Marino on Friday to kick off the latest round of 2014 World Cup qualifiers. England is level on four points with Montenegro and Poland at the top of Group H.
