San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week for Week 31 of the MLS season on Monday.

Wondolowski netted a hat trick against the Colorado Rapids in a 4-1 win for the Earthquakes on Saturday, taking his season total to 25.

The three-goal performance helps Wondolowski jump to within striking distance of Roy Lassiter's 1996 single-season goals record of 27.

San Jose's final two games come against the Los Angeles Galaxy and Portland Timbers, while Wondolowski did break the Earthquakes all-time scoring record set by Ronald Cerritos with his 62nd goal for the club.

The MLS Player of the Week award is selected each week by the North American Soccer Reporters. The group consists of members of online, print, television, radio media.
