Jackson Martinez had his league-high fifth goal and FC Porto defeated Sporting Lisbon, 2-0, on Sunday to climb into first place in the Portuguese Liga.

Martinez scored just 10 minutes into the game and James Rodriguez clinched the win from the spot six minutes from time as Porto took the lead on a tiebreaker over Benfica, which is also on 14 points.

Porto beat PSG, 1-0, in the Champions League on Wednesday and added its fourth win in its last five league fixtures against Sporting. Porto and Benfica both have four wins and two draws from six matches.

Sporting has just one win from six matches, and sits eight points off the pace in the bottom half of the standings.

Benfica moved ahead by three points temporarily on Saturday, when Maxi Pereira and Rodrigo scored two minutes apart just before the hour in a 2-1 win against Beira-Mar.

Douglao scored four minutes into stoppage time Sunday as Braga had three goals in the second half to draw Olhanense, 4-4, but fell three points out of first. Douglao finished with two goals, while Ivanildo Cassama had two for Olhanense.

Gil Vicente notched its second straight win after opening the season without a win in four matches, as Rafael Silva scored early in the second half of a 1-0 win at one-win Nacional.

Also Sunday, El Arbi Hillel Soudani scored twice as Guimaraes handed Academica its first loss, 2-1, Joao Tomas scored twice as Rio Ave beat Estoril, 3-1, and Setubal tied Pacos Ferreira, 0-0.

On Monday, Maritimo earned a 1-0 win at Moreirense as Rafael Miranda scored the lone goal in the 46th minute, while the home side was reduced to 10 men with 20 minutes to play when Ricardo Ribeiro was sent off.
