David Di Michele scored three minutes from time as Chievo edged Sampdoria, 2-1, on Saturday at Stadio M.A. Bentegodi to snap a five-game losing skid in Serie A in the debut of coach Eugenio Corini.

Chievo scored just two goals during its five-game skid, but Cyril Thereau gave his side a lead in first-half stoppage time and, after Enzo Maresca leveled on the hour for Sampdoria, Di Michele bagged the winner in the 87th minute.

Corini took over as coach earlier this week in place of Domenico di Carlo, and got the desired result in his first match in charge.

Di Michele found the winner late when his 30-yard shot sneaked past Sampdoria goalkeeper Sergio Romero, handing Chievo its second win of the season.

Sampdoria lost its second straight as its winless skid reached four matches.

Genoa 1, Palermo 1

Genoa, Italy - Marco Borriello scored early in the second half as Genoa tied Palermo, 1-1, on Saturday at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris for its third straight draw during a four-game unbeaten streak in Serie A.

Although Genoa has six points from its last four matches, it has just one win over its last six games. Luigi Giorgi scored for Palermo, which is unbeaten in its last two matches, but just three points off the foot of the table.
