Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre was named the American League Player of the Month for September.

Beltre batted .337 with 11 home runs, 19 RBI and 19 runs scored over 26 games to capture the monthly award for the second straight September.

The right-handed slugger joins Baltimore's Eddie Murray (1980-81), New York's Don Mattingly (1985-86) and Cleveland's Albert Belle (1998-99) as the only AL players to win the award in back-to-back Septembers.

Beltre finished the month with four game-winning RBI, the most in the AL, and is tied with Angels first baseman Albert Pujols for the most in the league this season with 19.

Others who were considered for the award included Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera, Angels outfielder Torii Hunter and Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer.
