Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Julien Benneteau of France was among the first-round winners Tuesday at the Malaysian Open.
The seventh-seeded Benneteau claimed a 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 win over Argentina's Carlos Berlocq and earned a second-round matchup with Australia's Matthew Ebden, who topped Russian wild card Philip Davydenko, 6-0, 7-6 (7-3).
Only one other first-round match took place Tuesday and Spain's Albert Ramos came away with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Austrian qualifier Julian Knowle.
The first round will conclude on Wednesday with five matches, while a pair of second-round matches are also on the schedule.
This week's top seeds -- Spanish star David Ferrer and Argentine Juan Monaco -- will not see their first action until Thursday.
The 2012 winner of this $850,000 tournament will claim $153,400.
