Boston, MA – The Baltimore Orioles activated designated hitter Jim Thome and pitcher Troy Patton off the 15-day disabled list Friday.
Thome, who has been sidelined since July 28 with a herniated disc in his neck, hit .261 with three doubles, two home runs and six RBI through 18 games with Baltimore after being acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies on June 30.
The 22-year veteran has a .252 average with five doubles, seven homers and 21 runs batted in over 48 games this season with the Phillies and O's.
Patton went 1-0 with a 2.58 ERA in 50 relief appearances this season with Baltimore, which entered Friday with the AL's top wild card spot while sitting a game behind the New York Yankees for first place in the AL East.
The 27-year-old lefty is riding a career-high 18-game scoreless streak and has not appeared in a game since Aug. 12 because of a sprained right ankle.
