Mexico City, Mexico – Angel Reyna scored 15 minutes from time as Monterrey beat Puebla, 3-2, on Sunday in the Mexican Apertura to extend its unbeaten streak to six matches.
Cesar Delgado and Aldo De Nigris scored in the first half as Monterrey grabbed the lead on the road, but Diego de Buen and Isaac Romo scored after halftime as Puebla pulled level.
Reyna received a through ball from Cesar Delgado and scored off a right-footed shot from just outside the penalty area to the bottom-left corner in the 75th minute to secure the road win for Monterrey.
Monterrey sits fifth in the table on 13 points, level with four other squads. Puebla lost for the third time in its last five as it stayed just three points off the foot of the standings on five points from eight matches.
Tijuana moved to the top of the league by beating Atlante, 2-1, with goals from Duvier Riascos and Alfredo Moreno one minute apart early in the second half.
Also Sunday, Luis Mendoza scored in the second half as San Luis ended a three- game losing streak with a 1-0 win at UNAM.
On Saturday, Raul Jimenez and Cristian Benitez scored as America beat Santos, 2-0, Luis Garcia scored twice as Tigres snapped a four-game winless run with a 2-0 win over Cruz Azul, and Atlas tied Queretaro, 0-0.
On Friday, Jorge Marcelo Rodriguez scored twice in the second half as Jaguares snapped a nine-game unbeaten streak for Toluca with a 2-0 win, Felix Borja had a brace as Pachuca snapped a four-game winless run with a 3-2 win over Morelia and Rafael Marquez Lugo scored in stoppage time as Guadalajara beat Leon, 2-1.
