Liberty football coach Turner Gill on Wednesday announced a change in play calling following the team's first 0-2 start since 2003.

Aaron Stamn was promoted from co-offensive coordinator to offensive coordinator, replacing Dennis Wagner, and given the play calling duties that were previously filled by Gill. Wagner is now the co-offensive coordinator.

"This staffing adjustment is due to the outstanding job Coach Stamn did during the Norfolk State game," Gill said. The Flames lost to the defending MEAC champion, 31-24, last Saturday.

"This move is what is best for our football program, allowing us to strive for (Big South) conference and national championships."

Stamn and Wagner are both in their first seasons at Liberty. Stamn also was a part of Gill's coaching staff for two seasons at Kansas (2010-11) and four at Buffalo (2006-09).

Liberty will play 14th-ranked Montana on Saturday in Missoula.
