Michael Higdon netted a hat trick against Inverness on Sunday in a 4-1 Motherwell win that moves the club to the top of the Scottish Premier League.

Motherwell is now unbeaten through five games and leads defending champions Celtic by one point with the Hoops having played one less game.

The Steelmen started quickly and jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with goals from Tom Hateley and Higdon just one minute apart.

Richie Foran pulled a goal back for Inverness midway through the opening half, but Higdon tallied his third and fourth goals of the campaign in a six-minute span after halftime to secure the win, with Andrew Shinnie failing to convert from the penalty spot for Inverness in the final 10 minutes.

Sunday was a day of firsts this season for Dundee as the club scored its first goal of the season and claimed its first victory, a 1-0 triumph at Hearts.

Ryan Conroy was responsible for the goal as he converted from the penalty spot after just two minutes, while Dundee goalkeeper Robert Douglas stopped a penalty kick in the 28th minute to deny John Sutton.
