Perthshire, Scotland – European Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabal added fellow Spaniard Miguel Angel Jimenez as his fourth assistant captain on Saturday.
Jimenez joins a staff that already includes Darren Clarke, Thomas Bjorn and Paul McGinley, who were announced as the first three assistant captains just over a week ago.
The group will try to help Europe retain the Ryder Cup at Medinah late next month.
"Miguel's announcement means that I now have four world class golfers as my vice captains -- all with tremendous experience of playing in the Ryder Cup, which is absolutely invaluable," Olazabal said.
"Thomas, Darren and Paul were there with me supporting Colin Montgomerie in 2010, when we regained the Cup and Miguel, of course, made a huge contribution to that match including winning his singles."
Jimenez was a vice captain to Seve Ballesteros in 1997 at Valderrama, then went on to play in four Ryder Cups.
"Fifteen years after being alongside Seve, it's great to be vice captain to Jose Maria. I remember being woken at 3 a.m. by Seve for team talks so I hope Jose Maria hasn't got the same thing in mind," Jimenez joked. "Seriously, I would not be telling the truth if I didn't say that I would have liked to have been playing again -- there is nothing to compare with that in the Ryder Cup -- but next to that I could not be happier than to be a vice captain alongside Darren, Thomas and Paul."
The 48-year-old Jimenez has tallied a 4-8-3 record in his Ryder Cup appearances, posting a 3-2-1 mark in fourball action. His 4 & 3 win over Bubba Watson at the 2010 Ryder Cup was his first singles win in the event.
