The Texas Rangers placed catcher Mike Napoli on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a left quad strain.

To replace Napoli on the active roster, the Rangers recalled catcher Luis Martinez from Triple-A Round Rock.

Napoli has struggled to duplicate the career numbers he produced for Texas last year and has posted a .223 average, .343 on-base percentage and .429 slugging percentage with 17 homers and 40 RBI in 92 games in 2012. Conversely, he had a 1.046 on-base plus slugging mark last year.

Martinez has yet to appear in a game for Texas, having played 22 games last year with the Padres.
