Stoke-on-Trent, England (Sports Network) - Geoff Cameron completed his switch from the Houston Dynamo in MLS to English Premier League side Stoke City on Wednesday, when he was issued a work visa.
Cameron, 27, had spent his entire career with Houston, appearing in 166 games in midfield or defense over five seasons with 11 goals and 15 assists. He has broken into the U.S. national team since 2010, and appeared five times.
"On behalf of the club, I want to thank Geoff for his contributions over the last five seasons and wish him all the best at Stoke City," Dynamo president Chris Canetti said. "I am confident that he will have success in the Premier League."
Stoke City ended 14th in the EPL last season, just two points out of the top half.
"We are very happy for Geoff," Dynamo coach Dominic Kinnear said. "I think he is a great player and he can be successful in England.
"We didn't know what kind of player he was when we drafted him. But soon we knew he had a real good chance to play on the national team and have other great opportunities."
Stoke also confirmed the signing of Wolverhampton midfielder Michael Kightly for an undisclosed fee Wednesday.
