Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Andrej Meszaros is out indefinitely after having surgery Tuesday morning to repair a torn right Achilles tendon.

General manager Paul Holmgren revealed the news through the Flyers' Twitter account, stating Meszaros suffered the injury training last week in his native Slovakia.

The 26-year-old blueliner totaled seven goals and 18 assists in 62 games last season for the Flyers. He underwent back surgery in March and returned to play one postseason contest.

A 2004 first-round pick by Ottawa, Meszaros has registered 49 goals and 200 points in 522 career games with the Senators, Tampa Bay and Philadelphia.
