Reigning Olympic champion He Chong of China was the top qualifier Tuesday in the men's 3-meter springboard.

He scored 510.15 points on six dives while Russia's Ilya Zakharov, the top diver in preliminaries on Monday, finished 4.55 points back after getting a 100.70 on his last dive.

Qin Kai was third and American Troy Dumais, already a medalist here in his fourth Olympics, qualified fifth behind Mexico's Yahel Castillo Huerta.

He and Qin will look to continue China's perfect diving record at the London Olympics. The Chinese have won the first five diving events here after going 7-for-8 in Beijing four years ago.

The final is Tuesday night.

Chris Colwill, who won the springboard event at U.S. trials, received all zeroes on his final dive and finished last out of the 18 divers. Canada's Francois Imbeau-Dulac also failed to qualify, finishing 13th for the first reserve spot.
