Astros OF Schafer to disabled list

Houston, TX – The Houston Astros placed outfielder Jordan Schafer on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday due to a separated left shoulder.

Schafer was hitting just .216 with four home runs and 23 RBI in 96 games.

To fill the roster spot, Houston recalled outfielder Brandon Barnes from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Barnes is slated to be in the lineup as the Astros welcome the NL East-leading Nationals.

In addition, pitcher Juan Abreu was designated for assignment.
