The San Francisco Giants reinstated pitcher Shane Loux and catcher Hector Sanchez from the 15-day disabled list Thursday.

Loux missed 27 games with a neck strain, while Sanchez had been sidelined with a left knee sprain since mid-July.

The right-hander Loux had a 4.50 earned run in 11 appearances for the Giants. Sanchez was batting .281 with two home runs and 24 RBI in 39 games prior to landing on the DL.

To clear room on the roster, the Giants optioned outfielder Justin Christian and catcher Eli Whiteside to Triple-A Fresno following Wednesday's game.
