The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled pitcher Daniel McCutchen from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.

McCutchen, 29, is 5-2 with a 3.56 earned run average in 26 games (one start) with Indianapolis this season.

The right-hander has appeared in 107 games, including 15 starts, with the Pirates from 2009-11. He is 8-10 with a 4.67 ERA at the major league level.

To make room for McCutchen, Pittsburgh designated outfielder Drew Sutton for assignment. Sutton hit .243 with one home run and seven RBI in 24 games with the Bucs this season.

In 128 big league games, the journeyman has hit .256 with four homers and 37 RBI over four seasons with the Reds, Indians, Red Sox, Rays and Pirates.

The Bucs traded for outfielder Travis Snider Monday night, and he joined the team on Tuesday.
