Emilie Gomis scored 22 points and France needed overtime to beat Australia, 74-70, in the women's basketball tournament.

Celine Dumerc added 13 points for France, which improved to 2-0 in Group B after taking down Brazil on Saturday.

Suzy Batkovic ended with 17 points and 10 rebounds for Australia, which was coming off a win over Great Britain. Lauren Jackson and Elizabeth Cambage tallied 13 and 12 points, respectively.

France's Isabelle Yacoubou missed the second of two free throws with three seconds remaining in regulation. Down by three, 65-62, Australia's Abby Bishop grabbed the defensive rebound and passed to Belinda Snell, who made a shot from past halfcourt to force overtime.

Australia stayed close in the overtime period before turnovers cost them the game. Dumerc made a pair of free throws with three seconds left to give France its winning margin.
