The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled highly- touted prospect Starling Marte from Triple-A Indianapolis and optioned reliever Evan Meek to Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Marte, a native of the Dominican Republic, is hitting .286 with 12 homers and 61 RBI over 98 games with Indianapolis this season. He is batting .313 with eight homers since the beginning of June.

The 23-year-old outfielder is expected to make his major league debut with the Pirates when they open a four-game set against the Astros on Thursday in Houston.

Meek has appeared in 12 games for the Bucs this season and has registered a 6.75 earned run average with eight strike outs.
