Toronto FC has acquired forwards Eric Hassli and Quincy Amarikwa in trades with Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Red Bull New York, respectively.

Toronto acquired Hassli from Vancouver on Friday night for a first-round pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft and an international roster spot through next year. TFC then acquired Amarikwa from New York on Saturday morning for a conditional draft pick.

The 31-year-old Hassli joins Toronto as a designated player. He had 12 goals and five assists in 44 matches for Vancouver.

"Adding a player of Eric's ability gives an immediate improvement to our club," said Toronto FC coach and director of soccer operations Paul Mariner. "He has had a lot of success in this league and we are pleased to bring him to Toronto."

The 24-year-old Amarikwa was recently claimed off waivers by New York. He was with the Colorado Rapids to start the season, and played the last two seasons for the club. He scored three goals in 31 appearances for Colorado.

"Quincy is a hard worker, with great athletic abilities and a positive attitude," Mariner said. "That's what we look for in all our players. We feel he will fit in with our club nicely."

Hassli and Amarikwa will help fill a void left by a season-ending injury to leading scorer Danny Koevermans. He tore his ACL recently, and will miss the remainder of the season. Koevermans had nine goals this year.

Toronto FC returns to action July 28 at BMO Field against the Houston Dynamo.
