Oakland, CA – The Oakland Athletics placed shortstop Cliff Pennington on the 15-day disabled list Friday with left elbow tendinitis.
Pennington is batting .197 in 82 games this season with three home runs and 16 RBI. He was just 4-for-48 over his previous 17 games.
In a corresponding move, the A's recalled infielder Eric Sogard from Triple-A Sacramento. He is hitting just .145 in the majors this season.
